Father went to college Father finished college (Yay computers!) Mother went to college Mother finished college Have any relative who is an attorney, physician, or professor Were the same or higher class than your high school teachers (Middle class, right?) Had more than 50 books in your childhood home Had more than 500 books in your childhood home (It would probably be close. This changed after I started buying books.) Were read children's books by a parent Had lessons of any kind before you turned 18 (Karate, Bagpipes, Japanese, Voice... Crap, that's a lot.) Had more than two kinds of lessons before you turned 18 The people in the media who dress and talk like me are portrayed positively (I guess. Correct me if I'm wrong) Had a credit card with your name on it before you turned 18 Your parents (or a trust) paid for the majority of your college costs Your parents (or a trust) paid for all of your college costs (I'll be the only one of my siblings with money left over) Went to a private high school Went to summer camp (International F'ing Music Camp) Had a private tutor before you turned 18 (Only for Bagpipes) Family vacations involved staying at hotels (Not typically, but we did do it once or twice) Your clothing was all bought new before you turned 18 (Mostly, but there were hand me downs in there) Your parents bought you a car that was not a hand-me-down from them (HA) There was original art in your house when you were a child (Bought from a friend I belive) Had a phone in your room before you turned 18 (Very breifly, then it stopped working.) You and your family lived in a single family house Your parent(s) owned their own house or apartment before you left home You had your own room as a child Participated in an SAT/ACT prep course Had your own TV in your room in High School (But it was black and white!) Owned a mutual fund or IRA in High School or College Flew anywhere on a commercial airline before you turned 16 Went on a cruise with your family Went on more than one cruise with your family Your parents took you to museums and art galleries as you grew up (Less art galleries and more museums) You were unaware of how much heating bills were for your family
So I guess I was a child of privilage. Or something. Hurm. |

| BIRTHDAY MADNESS |
[Feb. 7th, 2007|06:03 pm] |
|
Hey there people. Yeah, you, on my LJ Friends list. Maybe it's been a while since I've seen you, maybe not. Whatever the case, you somehow managed to end up on my LJ friends that means YOU ARE INVITED . Yes, next week I am turning 24 and I'm doing the very mature thing and filling my house to the brim with people to celebrate. Two things are going on: THURSDAY, FEB 15TH- Is Birthday Drinking and Karaoke at the Limelight. (531 St. Mary's Rd Winnipeg) I'll be aiming to get there around 9pm and will be staying until they kick us out, so if that is your thing, please, by all means join me. AND SATURDAY, FEB 17TH- Is Birthday house party at my place starting at 8pm. (Let me know if you need directions) I know, I live way out in the boonies, but I promise good times. At the very least, I have an incredibly cute dog who would love to meet you. This will probably be the last house party there, so let's make it a good one! Now, your mission, should you choose to accept it is the following: Come to one (or both!) of the events, have a good time, and finally, let anyone else who might want to come and who I've neglected to inform know. I always get into crap for neglecting to invite people and I would love to avoid that as much as possible. Also, if you could RSVP for the 17th so I know how many people to expect and who I should be preparing voodoo curses for, that would be fantastic. Thanks, and see you next week! |

| Call for HELP! |
[Jan. 31st, 2007|06:56 pm] |
|
Okay, so I just got a message from that New York fringe festival I was talking about a while ago: Apparently a spot has just opened up. That would mean that in Feb I would get back from Texas on the 23rd, do the Kibo (Human Rights Fundraiser) concert on the 24th, then have 2 weeks of rehearsal before running off for the festival from the 7th-18th. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: - I get to do a festival in New York!
- I'll have a show to do between now and the Fringe.
- It'll give me a chance to rework Jesus Christ, I'm Sorry
- It will be a chance to network with various artists and good exposure
- If I get good reviews, I can use them in the future for Grants
- It'll be wicked ass fun, because it's New York!
CONS: - It will cost a lot of money- In fact, I don't know if it's possible for me to gain money on the whole.
- It will mean I'll be crazy busy between now and then, working on it pretty much full time if I want to hold to any of my other projects.
- It will take a lot of time to rework the script, and I would not be happy going with what I currently have.
- I'm not sure if any of that networking would be of any use, especially when I can do much of the same at the Winnipeg Fringe.
- I might not get good reviews. Traveling down to do a shitty show would suck.
- It's in March, so it will be cold and maybe not as fun as my last trip.
- I also need to get the time off work: Which may be problematic, although I can't really say at this point.
So, friends, what do you think? Should I do it? |

| ARCADIA HELD OVER! ADDITIONAL SHOW ON THE 4th! |
[Jan. 29th, 2007|11:26 am] |
Hey there guys- Arcadia is 2 weeks down and only one more to go! If you haven't seen it yet, well I've got bad news and I've got good news:
The bad news is that our remaining shows on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd are reserved to the limit.
The good news is that due to this, it has been decided to hold the show over for one more performance, on Feb 4th at 3pm: So, if you want to see the show and you haven't reserved tickets, there is still a chance!
Now, if you can't come on the Sunday, there is still a chance to see the show: Usually a few of our reservations won't make it to the show, and in those cases those tickets are released to be sold: The show starts at 8, so if you come around 7:15 (later works as well, although it does reduce your chances!) you have an excellent chance of getting in. But if you would rather not have to worry about all of this, then the show on the 4th is the way to go.
You can reserve tickets at 952-1533. It's 15$ at the door. Again, shows on the 1-3rd are at 8pm, while the added show will be at 3pm. Hope to see you there!
Spread the word! |

The show opened yesterday and did quite well. Huzzah!
Just to give it a little more visibility: Apparently the day for my friends to go is Thursday the 25th- so, if you want to really cheer me on with a crowd of people, or see some visible proof that I have real friends, that would be your day to go. :)
Hope to see you there! |

| Answers to Questions |
[Dec. 7th, 2006|01:47 am] |
Well, welcome back. So, let's run by our players again- We've got Monique *crowd cheers* Melanie *more cheers* Josh Slone *crowd sounds confused* Athena *crowd is getting tired of cheering* and Bathroom Kathleen! *crowd leaves, never to be seen again*
Let's look at the answers:
My first name: Gimmie points. All of you get the full 2 points, even Bathroom Kathleen. (5 WAY TIE)
Take a stab at my middle name: K-po, Athena and Josh all come out ahead, while Mel gets no points for Brentington (come on Mel, we both know you can do better) and Monique "Surrender Monkey" gets -1 points for racial profiling. (K,A,J - 7 points, Mel - 2 Points, Mon - 1 Point) Who is my current celeb-crush: In the celeb crush catagory, the answers go all over the freaking place. No points for both Monique's Reese Witherspoon and Athena's Summer Glau (although the Firefly reference is appreciated), 2 points for Josh's Jon Stewart (He's mother fucking Jon Stewart) and Mel's Jessica Alba (She's hot, I won't deny it) while Kathleen manages to pull out a suprise 3 points with Jenna Melone, who, while not a member of my celeb cruch list (currently populated by Anna Paquin, Natalie Portman (when she's not doing commentary on Garden State) and Ziyi Zhang), she damn well should be. (K - 10, J - 9, A - 7, Mel - 4, Mon - 1 Point)
Where do I live: Getting close to neighborhood will count as a win in this catagory, and so Kathleen, Monique and Athena get 2 points. Mel gets a pity point, while Josh, being graded on a curve as an internet friend also pulls in a single point for his answer. (K-11, J-10, A-9, Mel-5, Mon-3)
Coming out of the easy fact rounds we've got a tight race in the top three while our two M names are lagging behind. Can Monique make a break out of last place? There's still plenty of game left, so let's find out!
What am I afraid of: Seeing as how nobody correctly guessed "failure", it looks like it's time to dole out arbirary points. Kathleen gets 2 points for an answer that I had to read 2 times to understand, while Josh gets no points for attempting to scare me for living in my country. Bad Josh, no cookie. Or, in this case... points. Mel nets herself two points for suggesting that I be afraid of lobsters, which come of think of it, I just might be. I mean, I'd rather have my head dunked into a lobster tank then a take full of pirahnas, but both of them would really suck. Finally 1 stinking point for Monique and Athena, both of whom went with general fears (you know, unlike "failure") instead of fears that say something about ME. Jerks. (K-13, J,A-10, Mel-7, Mon-4)
Do I smoke: Since I do not smoke (and neither should you, K-Po) everybody gets points except Josh. Actually, nobody gets points, Josh just loses 1. It would have been two, but he put in a question mark and frankly, if you're willing to question your wrong answer, you've begun your path to the right one. Or something. (K-13, A-10, J-9 Mel-7, Mon-4)
Do I drink: I do drink, and in celebration of this, I get so drunk that I forget to give anybody points, or even recap the score.
How many siblings do I have: I have 2 siblings, which Kathleen and Athena got correct. Josh got if half correct, so he gets half of the three points while Mel gets a range of between .003 and 3 points to represent the range of her answer. The magic of random numbers gives her a score of 1.34, if it works as a proper fraction or not. Finally Monique gains 10 fantasy world points from the world in which I do have 1 brother, but those suffer in the exchange and she actually ends up with no points at all. That girl just can't get a break. (K-16, A-13, J-10.5 Mel-8.34, Mon-4)
Do I have children: Since Athena and Kathleen broke their vows of secracy, I'm taking my revenge by awarding them no points. Josh, Mel and Monique on the other hand know how to play along and they will be rewarded accordingly. No Athena, I don't mean sodomy for everbody. (K-16, A-13, J-12.5 Mel-10.34, Mon-6)
Do I get along with my parents: I do indeed get along with my folks. Athena and Kathleen seem to think I've got mom issues though, and I seem to think that they are quickly losing ground by not getting any points. Well, one point, but only because I don't want you to complain about it later. (K-17,J-14.5,A-14 Mel-12.34, Mon-8)
Wow, the competition keeps on heating up! Kathleen has the lead, but for how long? Will Josh and Athena still fight over second place or will one of them burst ahead. And what about Mel and Monique? Could a come back still be in the cards? Only time will tell!
What's one of my favorite things to do: Some apparently late reasearch here- Athena suggesting that I greatly enjoy collecting video games, a pass time that has been no longer activly pursued for some time and and Kathleen assuming that I play WoW, which is no longer the case. Half points awarded only. Monique went with an easy one, but gets full points for it, as does Mel. Josh on the other hand. Well, I can't really deny the truth in his answer. So, I'll give him 3 points, just to feed the machine. (K-19,J-17.5,Mel-16.34,A-16, Mon-12)
How many piercings do I have: Everyone correctly guessed 0 peircings, including Josh as long as 0 is indeed a prime number (I can't remember that far back in school). Although Kathleen, why the "I hope"? Are piercings no longer the cool thing to do? Or are you rebelling against your suicide girls already anti-establishment image. REBELLION IS CONFORMITY! THE NEW REBELLION IS GETTING A SMART HAIRCUT AND WORKING A 9-5 JOB! I don't even know. Explain and I'll give you points to be used in a future competition. As it stands, no points until Kathleen explains.
What's my favorite type of music: A trick question, since I have no out-and-out favorite. Therefore, Josh is the only one who gets full points. Athena and Kathleen with both get a couple for mentioning indy music, which is awesome, even though I'm no longer a college student honour bound to say so. Finally, Monique gets a single point for just Ska, while Mel will get a pity point for what I'll term "World Music". (K-21, J-20.5, A-18, Mel-17.34, Mon-13)
What's my favorite TV show: Heroes is indeed my favorite show, so Melanie gets full points, while Lost and Battlestar Galactica come close enough to earn 3.5 points for Kathleen and Athena. Monique gets a single point for the cultural reference, while Josh fails to impress with his Polka Show. I mean, I'm sure it's great and all, but I've never seen it. And now I cry. (K-24.5, A-21.5, Mel-21.34, J-20.5, Mon-14)
What's my favorite animal: Nobody correctly guessed the Wolf, but I'll give dogs (including those that are ruff on crime) full points. Sadly for Kathleen, "Cool Ones" makes me think of those breifly redesigned XTREME loony tunes characters,
which makes me mad, which earns you no points, while the tiger eats the Manatee, earning it a second point and leaving Athena empty handed. (K-24.5, Mel-24.34, J-23.5 A-21.5, Mon-16)
Name something I hate: You all named something I hated and I'm getting tired of this, so let's move along.
Name a talent I have: Everyone correctly named a talent, except Monique. Sadly, I really really suck at tying my shoe laces. I should probably learn how to do it well one of these days, but that day has yet to arrive. Still, Monique is way behind, so no change in the points. Let's keep it sporting!
What kind of shoes do I wear: I do indeed wear runners (although as of late I wear hiking shoes). No points for glass slippers (so last year) and sadly, my shoes are only nice until I've worn them a couple of times. No points Mel. (K-28.5, A-25.5, Mel-24.34, J-23.5, Mon-20)
As we head towards the home stretch, the race is still tight and even Monique looks like she has a shot at the gold. Stick with us now, we're almost there!
Do I have any pets: In a sad state of affairs, only Athena and Kathleen correctly answered that I indeed do have a dog and Kathleen managed to get both his name and the name of a dog we used to dog sit. Athena- Shame on you for getting the name wrong, minus one point. This leads me to belive that I should gush over my awesome dog more. I will.
 Hamish rules! (K-32.5, A-28.5, Mel-24.34, J-23.5, Mon-20)
Who am I dating right now: Everyone gets full points here- Athena, Monique and Mel for knowing I'm single, Josh for his clever wit and K-Po for keeping the dream alive. So, no points for anyone.
What am I studying in school: Again, full points around. You guys are no fun anymore. Either that, or I'm running out of things to say.
What are my political views: Monique gets closest with Leftest, so a full 4 points to her. Kathleen gets 3 for keeping me left but moving be close to the centre, while I'll give Mel a point for good faith. The rest of you, no such luck. (K-35.5, A-28.5, Mel-25.34, Mon-24, J-23.5)
What's my religion: A lapsed presbyterian, Athean gets full points for her answer, while Kathleen gets 2. Josh also gets 2, because I want to be a Pastafarian. Sounds tasty. A single point for voodoo and monique just gave up. Come on! You just escaped last place! (K-37.5, A-31.5, Mel-26.34, J-25.5, Mon-24)
If I were stranded on a desert island, what would I bring: Last catagory. It all comes down to this (well actually Kathleen is already ahead by more then 5 points, but let's just see what happens.) Athena gets no points because I prefer to fuck my coconuts without the aid of lubrication. Josh gets 2 points because having Canada with me on an island would be great, whereas Kathleens suggestion, while good, is a little to big for my island, but since I'm allowing Canada as an answer will also get 2 points. Mel's suggestion of a clock radio, tin of salmon and mirror leaves me with enough raw material to McGuyver my way to the moon, but I'd probably just throw the radio into the sea when it wakes me early one morning, use the salmon as bait to unsuccessfully catch fish and keep the mirror as a sad reminder of my failing good looks, so only a single point. But Monique... I really like Monique's suggestion. I mean, as soon as the theatre chick discovers that I wasted all my wish energery on getting her plastered as opposed to finding us a rescue or a source of food (not to mention getting a blender with nowhere to plug it in) it's all over, but until then it's party time on the desert island. Whoo!
That makes the final talley:
Kathleen - 39.5 Athena - 31.5 Monique - 29 Josh - 27.5 Melanie - 27.34
Wow! Monique manages to nestle herself in the middle of the pack while Kathleen soars away to victory. Well, that's all the time we have for tonight, but thanks to all our guests for playing! And remeber!

HAMISH RULES! |

1. Would you get back with your last ex if you could? If it would make her happy, in a heartbeat. I'd like to think that it would, but at this point it's not in the cards, so I working to move away from that impulse. Who knows what I might say in a month or two? Perviously I would have just said yes, flat out.
2. What color shirt are you wearing? Blue. It's my "I Love Gary Indiana" shirt, which is fun, regardless of the ammount of people who just don't get it, even when I explain it.
